The Community Foundation of Greene County is pleased to announce it has awarded $10,000 to United Way of Greene County from the Campbell Family Fund to support Stuff the Bus on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Lions Club Park in Waynesburg.
MaChal Forbes, Greene County United Way Executive Director, said, “We are excited to host the 22nd annual Stuff the Bus event, and with the generous support from the Campbell Family Fund, we will be able to assist more Greene County K-12 students preparing for the start of the school year”.
Greene County United Way’s Stuff the Bus has provided children in Greene County – across all five school districts from K-12th grade – backpacks filled with supplies for 21 years. Since 2020, GCUW has contributed back-to-school items to over 2,100 kids including those in alternative and home-based school programs. In 2023, GCUW distributed 744 backpacks and 510 pairs of new shoes.
Stuff the Bus is more than just supplies for the upcoming school year. It is a day of fun, where children can play and spend time with friends. GCUW provides lunch for the families, sign-ups for school activities, access to agency resources, and outdoor crafts and games. As a part of our 22nd year, Stuff the Bus will continue to provide shoe and clothing distribution, free haircuts, onsite dental and eye appointments, and a DJ, as well as increase the number of local resources onsite. This event is a wonderful way to support local children and connect with their families in a positive environment.
The Community Foundation of Greene County (CFGC), a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2000, is the central philanthropic vehicle in Greene County for donations of various types and sizes.
