Rocky Doman Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Guidelines

The Community Foundation of Greene County announces that there will be one $1,000.00 scholarship award made from the Rocky Doman Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded during the scholarship recipient’s school awards ceremony.

The Rocky Doman Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in honor of Rock A. Doman who was a 2000 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School where he excelled as an athlete in several sports.. He was awarded all county, and all conference during his three years on the varsity football team as a running back and was selected to the WPIAL 4000 Yard Club for rushing. More than just an athlete, Rock was a very giving and humble person, often helping other students who were training for their sport, giving advice or pointers on how to be a better athlete, and setting a good example. His goal was always to help the team excel, even at the expense of personal achievement. Rock also made time to give back to his community as a good neighbor, coaching children, or stopping by to visit an elderly neighbor just to say hi and provide a little company.

Application Criteria and Process

In order to apply, applicants must:

• Be a male or female senior student at any one of the high schools in Greene County, Pennsylvania (Carmichaels Area Junior/Senior High School, Waynesburg Central High School, Jefferson-Morgan Middle School/High School, Mapletown Junior/Senior High School, or West Greene High School) or their successors; and
• Be planning to pursue degree at an accredited two-year or four-year institution; and
• Be a standout student athlete playing any sport; and
• Demonstrate ability as a team player with a humble spirit

Students must:

● Provide a list of school sports played, and any awards or recognitions received in each sport.

● Secure a letter of recommendation from both 1) a school coach, and 2) an academic teacher (non-coaching) that describes how they see the student’s ability as a team player and evidence of a humble spirit. (Please give your references the attached Letter of Recommendation Information sheet.)

Attachments and Submission Instructions

The applicant should also enclose:

• A completed CFGC Common Scholarship Application Cover Form (see attached or download copy at http://www.cfgcpa.org/PDF/common.pdf)
• A copy of their completed FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) Acknowledgement Form, including the Estimated Family Contribution amount
• Copy(ies) of post-secondary acceptance letter(s) and scholarship awards
